Mom & Me trip to Charleston

For Mother's day I got my mom and I tickets to see Hootie and the Blowfish. Going to concerts together has been one of our favorite things to do lately and this one took us to Charleston.

So we made a mini vacation out of it!

I have been to chucktown a few times before, but wasn't quite sure where to take mom still. I made a google doc to layout our weekend to make sure she got in the classic spots.
Luckily one of my favorite Charleston blogging duos just put out their Local's Guide for Charleston so we never had to sit around and find places to eat or things to do! If you are planning a trip to Charleston soon, check it out!
The Homegrown concert was better than we could imagine! Darius sounded amazing live and the atmosphere was so much fun!

The Marion Square farmer's market was right outside our hotel! We picked up some of the biggest peaches I have ever seen!

Our favorite place on their list was The Park Cafe! A neighborhood breakfast spot that gives you all the feels.

August Atlanta Favorite spots

Vas Kouzina
Downtown Roswell has some new restaurants and we tried out Vas Kouzina. This family owned Greek Restaurant is already booking up with reservations, but luckily we were able to get a spot on the patio. The menu is full of shareable options and the food is delicious.
I think our favorite item on the menu was the dip platter and the roasted red pepper hummus!

The Rooftop at Clermont
The Clermont has been redone and it is so nice! Great views of the city and only a short walk from Ponce City Market. This would be a fun stay-cation spot!

Taverna
Two dollar mimosas and beignets? Taverna in Buckhead is a great place to meet up with the gals, family, etc.

Pontoon Brewing
One of the newer breweries in town Pontoon is located in Sandy Springs near Roswell Rd. Tuesday yoga, Wednesday Trivia and other fun community activities makes this place unique!

True Food
I can't seem to stop going to true food! After having dinner and brunch there I definitely love their brunch menu a little bit more! Everything is so fresh you can't go wrong!

Siesta Key: Top Five Places to Eat

Who wouldn't want want to go to on a beach trip twice in one summer?
This was my first time going to Siesta Key. The water was so clear and the sand was almost sparkling it was so white.
We did a whole lot of beaching and eating in this cute little island. Below are my five choices when looking for somewhere to eat!

1. The Cottage
Located in the Village, this cute little restaurant was recommended by a friend. It did not disappoint. We were taken to the back patio and it was like stepping into another world. String lights and live music make you feel like you are vacationing in the Caribbean. The menu is mostly seafood, but there are options for those who aren't big into seafood too.

2. The Boatyard
Just across the bridge is The Boatyard. You NEED to sit outside at this restaurant. The view is so beautiful and we even saw a few dolphins hanging by the dock. There is also a pretty good mix of food at this restaurant, but I recommend the crab cake sliders!

3. Toasted Mango
Looking for breakfast? Checkout this local chain. The coffee is good and so are their omelettes. Can't go wrong here!

4. Summer House
This is a new restaurant in the Village. We didn't have enough time to stop in here, but it was recommended by a trusted friend so it goes on the list.

5. The Hub
If you are wanting to switch up from Seafood a little bit, check The Hub! A fun little Tex-Mex spot that usually has a wait. I would recommend going early, their happy hour is a pretty good deal and if there is a wait you can walk around the village!

Bonus:
Olaf (Ice cream)
It is not a beach trip if you don't have ice cream at least once! This popular ice cream spot is also located in the Village and can sometimes get a crazy line, but for good reason. They don't skip on the scoops and have a ton of cone and bowl options.
