Tops for 4th of July

Tops for the 4th
Are you doing anything fun for the 4th? I am running the AJC Peachtree Road Race with a few friends and then plan to relax and grill out!
Below are some of my favorite tops and they are perfect for the upcoming holiday, brunch or your next vacay!

St. Simon's Getaway

Seven Must Do things in St. Simon's
1.  See the Lighthouse at the Pier
This year has been the year of lighthouse visits for me. Unlike in New England where you really can't get up close and personal, St. Simon's signature lighthouse is easily accessible. You can walk right up to it or venture out on to the pier for a great picture.

2. Grab a coffee at Palm Coast
There are plenty of places to grab coffee and breakfast, but my favorite island coffee place was Palm Coast! Cute atmosphere and great coffee.
Other places to try:
Wake Up Coffee
Sandcastle (breakfast buffet)
Coastal Kitchen

3. Eat a ton of seafood
There are a ton of places to grab seafood in this coastal town.
Check out:
Half Shell (Oysters)
Crabdaddy's

4. Grab BBQ at Southern Soul
This is a local and tourist favorite. Even if you don't want a break from the seafood, you need to grab some BBQ from this Southern Living best!

5. Visit Fort Frederica
St. Simon's is full of history. Fort Frederica has mostly been washed away, but locals are passionate about the preservation. If you are a history buff you need to tour this old fort town.

6. Shopping at Red Fern Village
Red Fern Village has so many cute boutiques and great places to eat! If you need a break from the beach or the touristy shops at the pier make your way over here!

7. Go to the beach
You are probably already planning on this, but my favorite part of these beaches is that there is room! You don't have to fight for a good spot. We were lucky that the weather was gorgeous the whole time.

Fitness Friday June 15, 2018

I haven't done a fitness progress post in a while. This week I hit a milestone. I am down ten pounds since February. While I don't live by the scale I still use it to motivate me when I don't want to workout. I have notice a few major differences like my clothes are fitting better and can sleep better.
Firm believer in: you have to love yourself before others can.
So I love that my body is able to workout and push me to achieve new goals. I have been traveling almost non-stop recently for work and haven't been able to train or go to OrangeTheory as much as I have wanted too. But I am getting back on track. Today my four run was better than it was on Wednesday. It was a reminder that I need to keep moving forward. Even if it is just a little improvement each day.

What's in my beach bag

We always take a little beach trip with Jared's family during the summer. This year we are headed to St. Simon's Island. And even though we used to live in close to the Golden Isles, we both have never been to this little slice of paradise.

What is in my beach bag?

Summertime in Atlanta: June Favorites

FILA: Forever I love Atlanta
Summertime is here and I am falling in love with Atlanta all over again. Check out my top five favorite spots right now!

1. Uptown Cafe:
Jared and I can't get enough of this little Roswell/Alpharetta spot! We take everyone here because it is always good and the price is always right. The relaxed atmosphere and delicious food has us coming back.

2. Victory:
Believe the hype! This place is as yummy as everyone says it is. The careful crafted mini sandwiches and house chips make this place! I finally got to eat here this past weekend and enjoyed every last bite. Also, you can hang out at SOS Tiki Bar and grab a specialty cocktail post sandwich!

3. The Painted Duck
Duck pin bowling, great food and unique bar games? Need I say more? And yes it is related to the Painted Pin. The atmospheres are a little different so if you are looking for something a little more laid back the Duck is the place to go.

4. The Battery
Baseball is king during an Atlanta summer and the Braves have done such a good job at building the family and friends atmosphere at the Battery. With plenty of shops and restaurants this is the kind of place you can spend your day. Punch Bowl Social is the newest restaurant/entertainment space on the block. Famous for their signature punch bowl drinks, this place stays busy!

5. Steel City Pops
If you don't spend your summer eating frozen treats was it really summer? Steel City Pops is a gourmet popsicle shop located in Decatur! You can customize your pop with dips, drizzles and more! The perfect way to cool down in this Georgia heat.
