This past weekend my sister and I went up to North Georgia for a quick hike. The weather was a little suspect, but when we checked the radar before we left we didn't think it would affect our hike. Mother nature had her own plan.
The hike up Brasstown Bald is only six tenths of a mile, but is a pretty steep climb. About five minutes into our trek the skies opened up. After driving the hour and half to get to our destination we weren't turning around for just a little rain.
The hike was actually really pretty in the moments that the rain paused.
We finally made it to the top after several stops during the heavy rain. It is really something to be at the highest elevation in Georgia, but I think we are going to go back in the fall on a clearer day!
There is also a museum at the top that is full of the history of the Brasstown Bald area. It is interesting to learn about history of the North Georgia land and current conservation methods that the are practiced today.
And you can't go to North Georgia without stopping in for some BBQ!
