New England Roadtrip

Lex (my sister) and I just took our annual sister trip! This year we went to New England! It was the perfect getaway to start our summer. Below are some of my favorite things we did in each city/area!

Boston:
Bean town! Apparently Boston is the origin of the baked bean dish. Who knew? Boston was our first stop and luckily we had some of the best hosts our friends Katy and her husband Trey.
Thinking Cup- delicious coffee and the quiche is amazing! There are also yummy pastries and other breakfast items.

Boston Harbor- One of my favorite parts of Boston is it's proximity to the water. There are so many shops and restaurants around the harbor you can't go wrong!

Freedom Trail/ Paul Revere's house- Take a freedom trail tour or just make sure you stop by Paul Revere's house to get your history fix.

Faneuil Hall- Another part of history and if you are looking for tourist nick nacks this is the place to go! It is definitely worth a walk by on your first trip!

Trillium Beer Garden- This pop up summer beer garden has tasty beers and is a local favorite. Be sure to enjoy the New England summer beer with a great view of the city!

Neptune's- If you want an authentic lobster roll and the best seafood in town, this place is worth the wait. Plan to put your name on the list early and have drinks around the corner while you wait!

Mike's Pastry- A local and tourist favorite this place only takes cash, but is worth stopping by the ATM. From cannolis to tarts this place has it all, be sure to bring cash, no credit cards are taken here!

Cape Cod:
My favorite town in the cape was Chatham. Site of one of our favorite early 2000s movies: Summer Catch! This picturesque town is everything I imagined!
The Sea food is about as fresh as you can get, unless you fish it yourself! Also there are so many lighthouse along the cape that are worth stopping by, but our favorite was the Race Point Lighthouse. Located at the top of the cape, this beauty can be seen from the beach  and is about a two mile walk.

Rhode Island:
It was raining when we were in Providence so we didn't get to  go on any hikes or really tour the city, but the food was so good!
Providence:
Andinos- Located on the famous Federal Hill (Rhode Island's Little Italy) this place had great service and even better

Brickway on Wickenden- A great, quirky breakfast place with good coffee and delicious menu options!

Newport:
This iconic Rhode Island town is where Jack and Jackie Kennedy said I do. You can see the historic glamour on every corner of this town! Gorgeous homes and landscapes seem endless here. The Castle Hill Lighthouse is owned by the inn, but we were able to go  the short little hike to get a picture. The  Bowmen Wharf is also a picturesque part of the town housing many restaurants and classic sailboats.

St. Mary's where the Kennedy's exchanged vows is about a three block walk. Declared a national landmark in 1968 this historic site is worth a stop on your trip!
