The Allman Brothers Band and The Big House

Stopped in to Macon for a quick visit this weekend and finally visited the some of the iconic Allman Brother stops.

We started at H&H Restaurant in downtown Macon for a hearty Southern breakfast. The restaurant was originally opened by Inez Hill and Louise Hudson. The boys developed a lifelong friendship with Louise who they affectionately called Mama Louise. She took pity on some long hair hippie boys who didn't have $5.75  to pay for a plate of food. The band members promised to pay her back after their next gig and true to their word they came back with payment in hand.

Next we went to 'The Big House'
Home to The Allman Brothers Band while they wrote and built their iconic Southern Rock music empire. The home has since been turned into a museum with many items from their band memorabilia like guitars, shirts, records, lyric notebooks, etc.
My favorite part was the personal photos throughout the house giving you a glimpse into their lives while at the house. It is currently $15 for the tour and a fun way to spend part of your Saturday.
