Celebration Lunch with my MIL

When it comes to mother-in-laws, I hit the jackpot. From day one she has always been so kind and thoughtful. I am so thankful to have her in my life these past eight years.
She would give anyone in need the shirt off her back and inspires me with her big heart!

As a family we love any good cause to celebrate and so when my mother-in-law told us she was offered a new and exciting job we had to take her out the restaurant of her choice here in Roswell.
Taqueria Tsunami was her choice and it was so good! Every single time we eat here it has always been amazing. Mexican-Asian fusion this restaurant offers a unique dining experience with a handcrafted menu.

Here in Georgia we are still in the stage where it is chilly in the morning and it warms up in the afternoon so as a compromise I did the sweater and shorts combo.

Fly Fishing 101

Another Saturday, another day of trying something new in Atlanta.
When we heard about Orvis Alpharetta offering free fly fishing classes,  we signed up right away. Fly fishing is something I have wanted to try for a while, I even suggested Montana as a honeymoon destination so we could test it out.

In this class Orvis experts went over the basics of flying fishing like how to cast and tie knots necessary to get out there and start. We practiced casting in the parking lot after seeing a demonstration. When I think of casting or fly fishing I think of giant fancy overhead casts, but we learned that all you need is a simple cast to get that Trout or other fish you are after. This was such a relief because I thought there was going to be a complicated process in order to be good.
Once we all got down the basics of casting we talked about the different ways to reel in your catch. Our instructors Barrett and Carter demonstrated the three different types of reels based on what type of fishing you were doing.

After we finished our parking lot fishing excursion, we headed inside the Orvis store to learn how to tie knots and the different types of lures you should use when out on the water.
If you have any interest in fly fishing definitely sign up for one of their classes! They are honestly spreading the passion of fishing to everyone and promoting getting outdoors.
We are excited to test our new skills out on the water soon. Fingers crossed it goes well!

Laurel and May

An old favorite, Mugs on Milton, has combined with a few other shops to create Laurel and May. I was craving some coffee the other day and popped over to check out the new space!
It is beautiful. Located in downtown Milton, there is plenty of parking and it is easy to get to.
You can enter the shop on two sides, the market or the paperie side. Either side gives you that small town market feel. The shop local vibe the Mugs on Milton has always provided.

Everything is fresh as always and it is a perfect place to pick up a mother's day or housewarming gift! There are so many cute cards, stationary, cookbooks and more. I am currently eyeing a few of their tea towels myself.

Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème

  • With as much as I travel for work, my skin can take a beating. Dry air in the airports or Vegas does not help with keeping my skin clear. I try to drink a lot of water and have given up soda, but I still need help keeping my skin moisturized and the bags under my eyes under control.

  • I recently tested out Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème. This Creme was created to deliver 24-hour hydration, improve concealer wear and target fine lines and wrinkles. I've been using this product before I go to bed for a few weeks now and can definitely tell the difference in how smooth my skin has been and the puffiness under my eyes. The puffiness has been even more constant with all the pollen in air so the creme has been a life saver!

  • I WAS NOT COMPENSATED FOR MY POST; HOWEVER, I DID RECEIVE A SAMPLE FOR MY REVIEW. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN AND NOT INFLUENCED IN ANY WAY.

Front Tie Shirts

My Favorite Trend from the 90s: Front Tie Shirts
I just picked up this one from Nordstorm Rack and it is already a closet favorite. Long enough to for work and fun enough to wear on the weekends! Breaking out the white jeans makes everything feel lighter and brighter.

Milton's Cuisine and Cocktails

This month at home has really allowed me to explore around Roswell and Alpharetta. One of my favorite parts is that I have been able to eat at new (to me) places that make up these awesome communities.

Did you know that Alpharetta had a literal farm to table restaurant? Milton's Cuisine and Cocktails is farm to table fresh. They have their own garden so all the vegetables are picked daily, not shipped in from elsewhere.

This unique venue isn't just about being a farm to table trend. It is about quality food and a community atmosphere. While we participated in the tasting everyone made sure we felt at home and knew the history of the restaurant. This wasn't exclusive just to us. I overheard the wait staff begin with this as they sat patrons.

The venue's story is pretty interesting in itself. The former farmhouse and cottage where moved to it's current location and restored to the Milton's we know now. My favorite part about the location and venue is that you forget you are in suburbs. While it is located in the historic Crabapple district you feel like you are on a private farm!

Everything we tasted was mouthwatering and smelled amazing! My favorite dish was the pork tenderloin with stone ground grits. So tender with the juices dripping on the grits which soaked up all the flavors from the pork. If you are into sides like me, the smoked cauliflower was so good. I normally don't like this veggie but the smoked flavoring had me wanting more!

New Realm Brewing

This past Saturday was a gorgeous 80 degree day in Atlanta so of course it needed to be spent on the Beltline!
What goes better with sunny weather than an ice cold craft beer? Not too much so a few friends and I headed to New Realm Brewery. One of Atlanta's newer breweries, New Realm opened their doors in 2016, but has quickly become a extremely popular spot and staple in the Atlanta craft beer market .

This venue is huge! When you get inside there is a large restaurant area with a host stand for dining and bar in front of the fermentors. Upstairs is also more seating and first come first serve service!

But when it is porch sitting weather, you sit on the porch! The host can seat you in their outdoor seating or you can choose the first come first serve picnic tables overlooking the beltline! There are still waiters out here so make sure to try the vast menu! Everything is so good, but if you are just looking for a snack to split my favorite is the pretzel!

Definitely take the time to check them out!
Mon – Wed: 5PM – 11PM
Thu – Sat: 11AM – 1AM
Sun: 11AM – 11PM

April 2018 5k

Who run the world? Girls!
For my April 5k I participated in the Northside Hospitals's Atlanta Women's 5k. This race is solely for women and girls making it so special. Encouraging a community of healthy women together in Atlanta.
I still haven't been running outside because Atlanta can't decide what season it is which is typical for spring here. This race reminded me that I do need to start getting outside and get those long runs in for the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Peachtree Road Race.
When the race started uphill, I was slightly discouraged. Atlanta is know for its hills, heat, humidity and so I mentally prepped myself for more hills throughout the course. To my surprise that was the worst of it!

The rest of the course was steady and so much fun! It was a nice tour of East Atlanta homes which kept me distracted enough that I forgot I was running three miles.
I finished this race two minutes faster than my last March 5k and am on my way to reaching my goal of running a 5k under 30 minutes. I haven't done this since 2015!
