Holiday Activities in Atlanta 2018

There may not be snow on the ground for most of the winter season in Atlanta, but there are so many things to do and holiday traditions in this city!
Below are my top ten activities/places to go during the holiday season!
  1. Atlanta Botanical Garden's: Garden Lights, Holiday Nights This makes the top of my list, because every year I say I want to go, but never make it. Then I see everyone's pictures and have FOMO. A perfect activity for all ages!
  2. Ice Skating There a few places to get your ice skate on, but I would would say the top two would Park Tavern and the Avalon. So lace up and show off those Olympic moves! Fun fact: When I was little I wanted to be Michelle Kwan...that dream didn't really pan out.
  3. Holiday Themed Bars Whether it is the Miracle Pop-UP Bar, SOS Tiki Bar, or the SKI HAUS at the nook you don't have to go far to find holiday cheer at the bars in Atlanta. The bars above have specialty drinks for the Christmas season, but it isn't hard to find a bar in your local neighborhood decked out. I love when downtown Roswell gets decorated!
  4. The Nutcracker at The Fox

  5. Meet the Grinch at Ponce City Market The Grinch and Santa have been coming to Ponce City Market the past three years, but this was my first time getting to actually go! It was quite the experience to say the least. This year they implemented a new line system where you put your number in and they text you when it is your turn. This gives you ample to grab lunch or look at the shops. The Grinch is in full character from start to finish with high energy levels. You get to go inside his house on Mt. Crumpit and take a few photos while interacting with him.

  6. Run a Christmas themed 5k Atlanta is a running city and there are plenty of 5ks happening throughout December. Everyone is in good spirits and there are usually people dressed up in holiday garb to distract you while you run. This is how I entertain myself during races. Plus, you feel better about all the holiday calories!
  7. Victorian Holiday at Oakland Cemetery My friend, Jenny Breffle, suggested this one! She may even know Saint Nicholas personally! Local artists, eternal home tours, and more awaits! A fun activity for the whole family.
  8. Christmas at Bulloch Hall Head up to Roswell and enjoy high tea at Bulloch Hall. The ticket price includes a tour of the home and all of its Christmas glory.
  9. Make your own glass blown ornament at The Homestead Atlanta  Throughout December this Decatur favorite is hosting glass blowing workshops. How special would it be to make your own ornament? https://www.thehomesteadatl.com/upcoming-workshops-all/
  10. Marietta Square's Farmers Market Yes, I know you can do this year round for the most part, but how many to experience the charm of Marietta Square at Christmas and get fresh baked goodies, jellies, and more?
