St. Simon's Getaway

Seven Must Do things in St. Simon's
1.  See the Lighthouse at the Pier
This year has been the year of lighthouse visits for me. Unlike in New England where you really can't get up close and personal, St. Simon's signature lighthouse is easily accessible. You can walk right up to it or venture out on to the pier for a great picture.

2. Grab a coffee at Palm Coast
There are plenty of places to grab coffee and breakfast, but my favorite island coffee place was Palm Coast! Cute atmosphere and great coffee.
Other places to try:
Wake Up Coffee
Sandcastle (breakfast buffet)
Coastal Kitchen

3. Eat a ton of seafood
There are a ton of places to grab seafood in this coastal town.
Check out:
Half Shell (Oysters)
Crabdaddy's

4. Grab BBQ at Southern Soul
This is a local and tourist favorite. Even if you don't want a break from the seafood, you need to grab some BBQ from this Southern Living best!

5. Visit Fort Frederica
St. Simon's is full of history. Fort Frederica has mostly been washed away, but locals are passionate about the preservation. If you are a history buff you need to tour this old fort town.

6. Shopping at Red Fern Village
Red Fern Village has so many cute boutiques and great places to eat! If you need a break from the beach or the touristy shops at the pier make your way over here!

7. Go to the beach
You are probably already planning on this, but my favorite part of these beaches is that there is room! You don't have to fight for a good spot. We were lucky that the weather was gorgeous the whole time.
